An erosion landform is a type of landform that is formed by erosion and weathering over usually hundreds or thousands of years. Erosion is the process of weathering and transport of solid particles in the natural environment or their source and moves them to another location. This can couse amazing things to form, like canyons, cliffs, natural archs, caves and other rock formations. Here are some examples.

Starting with the largest known canyon in the solar system, Valles Marineris on our neighboring planet, Mars. It’s at more than 4,000 km (2,500 mi) long, 200 km (120 mi) wide and up to 7 km (23,000 ft) deep, which is about under the average cruising altitude of a commercial jet. Several chasmata, or deep, steep sided, elongated depressions similar to a canyon on Earth, show signs of Martian wind erosion as well as eroded sediments from an ancient lake-bed.

Next up is Mount Thor, or Thor Peak, a mountain 1,675 m (5,495 ft) tall located in Auyuittuq National Park, on Baffin Island,Nunavut, Canada.

Let us not forget The Grand Canyon, which was carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona. It is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet or 1,800 m).

The Troll Wall, or Trollveggen, is located in the Romsdalen valley, near Åndalsnes and Molde, on the Norwegian west coast. The Troll Wall is the tallest vertical rock face in Europe, about 1,100 m (3,600 ft) from its base to the summit of its highest point. At its steepest, the summit ridge overhangs the base of the wall by nearly 50 m (160 ft).

Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory, central Australia. It stands 348 m (1,142 ft) high, rising 863 m (2,831 ft) above sea level, with most of its bulk lying underground, and has a total circumference of 9.4 km (5.8 mi).

The Trango Towers are a group of dramatic granite spires located on the north side of the Baltoro Glacier, in Baltistan, a district of the Gilgit-Baltistanregion of Pakistan. The highest point in the group is the summit of Great Trango Tower at 6,286 m (20,608 ft). The east face of the Great Trango Tower features the world’s greatest nearly vertical drop.
